I am: robbed

Yesterday I was robbed.

My duffel bag was stolen from me while I was singing in the shower of an empty men's locker room after my morning workout. The thief was kind enough to leave me my running shoes and my $10 watch. I guess the thief would let me run after him/her eh?

Clothed only with my towel and shower shoes, I half-nakedly sought out the campus police to aid me. After the report was filled with the police I made numerous phone calls to my banks and to various other places.

First priority was canceling my cards. Next was getting clothed. Then getting an extra set of keys. Obtaining a new license to drive was next and followed by accessing my alternate source of cash until my new cards come in next week.

Yesterday was a huge inconvenience especially not having my cell phone. Thank God it was in my car and not in my bag. Not having my cell phone would make the day a lot worse.

Two verses that popped in my mind during this chaos were:

  • Romans 12:19
    • Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
  • Romans 8:28
    • And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
God will seek justice for me because I am His child and everything will work out because I love God and I am called according to His purpose. Knowing these two verses helped me keep my composure throughout the day. It could have been a lot worse, but thank God that he helped me have back up plans and great friends to help me out. You are truly a blessing to me and I thank you for watch'n out for me.

Lessons learn:
  • Empty locker rooms aren't really empty
  • Shower at home
  • Don't sing in the shower as it might prevent you from hearing other people enter the locker room
