Woot! I got my first iPhone last Friday! I'm on night shift at the hospital so I decided to sleep on my futon in my living room so I can hear UPS knock on my door and say, "Your package has arrived." At 9am it came!
All my unboxing photos and videos are on Facebook. This is not a comphrensive review of the iPhone 3G S. Instead of a review this is a thought of inspiration of the iPhone as a tool of a photographer inspired by Chase Jarvis.
Chase Jarvis is a professional photographer and director. He uses Twitter and Facebook to update his followers of his latest gigs and blogs. One thing he's facinated about is his iPhone and how he uses it to take many photographs a day. He posts them frequently from his iPhone with various shots a day.
Jarvis' blog talks about many things related to photography, but what facinates me is his entries about the future of photography. The iPhone's camera plus capability to share photos has revolutionized the world of photograhpy. Photographs can be taken anywhere and everywhere with tools such as the iPhone.
Before my iPhone I used my Canon Powershot SD870IS with me everywhere to take photos. I love it. It's small, portable, and has a good wide angle lens to capture landscapes and groups of people. I use it for everyday purposes and to capture fun events.
Now that my iPhone has a 3.2 MP camera and video with the same capablities as my Canon, do I really need to carry my point and shoot around any more? I've been testing out my iPhone's camera and have been able to get great shots with it. It's autofocus feature lets me get depth of field and macro shots. Plus, I can edit my photos with free applications for the iPhone, ON the iPhone. When I'm done processing them, I can instantly upload them or share them with the world. I can't do that with my Canon.
So the question is, do I retire my former beloved Canon Powershot SD870IS? I'll have to get back to you on that...

retire that sucker. long live iphone.
...and thanks for the kind words ;)
