I am: finally at my own place

I have an apartment! Tonight is the first time that I'm actually sleeping in it. I'm excited. I finally have my OWN place.

I have been living at home all my life. The longest time I've been away from home was summer of 2007 for about 8 weeks. I don't think I was homesick because I knew that I would be coming home after training. But now I'm not going home, not for a while anyway.

Getting my new pad set up has been really busy and tiring, but a lot of fun! I've been all over IKEA, Craigslist, and Freecycle to save as much money as possible. I can look at my living room and say that most of the stuff was given free or bought dirt cheap. Now I can splurge on a glass L-shaped desk, 32" LCD HDTV, and a 26" monitor.

The hardest thing about living at my apartment is that I'm on the third floor with no elevator. It was difficult moving all that free furniture especially the washer and dryer up 3 flights of stairs. What a work out! But I like being up here. My workstation over looks the other complexes and has a good view of the sky. It's pleasant to look at and a good distraction for when I get frustrated on a paper.

The kitchen, bathroom, living room, and study room are pretty much set except for some lights and shelves. The bed room is going to be more work. I have a queen sized mattress, but want a headboard, a chest, and a changing table. A dresser could work too. I don't have a lot of storage space so I need to hide all my gear somehow... My camping gear doesn't fit in the closet and doesn't fit the theme of the rooom.

I'll be sure to post pictures once I get everything set up. I'll have before/after pictures as well.

Time to hunt for more free stuff!
